Developed by Milestone Event Management, our online sporting league concept is a powerful sales and marketing tool that engages your customers to identify with your brand, feel valued and reward them for their custom, thus ensuring their loyalty and ultimately retention of their business.

The concept can be applied to a whole host of different sports, including, golf, tennis, football, rugby, hockey, basketball, snooker, darts and fishing to name a few.  It provides a fun and interactive platform for friendly competition and helps to build a community of sporting enthusiasts that are loyal to your brand or product.   

Participants can compete in a league with the aim of climbing the leaderboard and qualifying for prizes or a place in an end of season final. In addition, there are fun competitions throughout the season to keep everyone involved, as well as the opportunity to discuss your chosen sport, network and arrange matches/competitions with like minded people across your customer base.  It can also provides an ideal vehicle for revenue generation from sponsors through banner advertising and e-newsletter communication.

A case study ... an online golf league

In 2004, Milestone was approached by Virgin Atlantic to devise an event which would service a large percentage of their Flying Club membership (Virgin Atlantic’s frequent flyer programme) at minimal cost. Using our online golf league template we created “Flying Club Swingers”, an online golf league and community which has now become Virgin Atlantic’s most high profile and valued membership event.

The Season Seven launch email in March 2010, generated just under £250,000 worth of revenue in the UK alone, through new members joining the programme and subsequently booking air travel or activity with Virgin Atlantic. 

Season Eight of Flying Club Swingers launched in March 2011 and now boasts well in excess of 3,000 Flying Club members from the UK, US, Caribbean, South Africa, Dubai, India, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.
