Sunshine returns to The Grove

After our washed out day back in June guests were delighted to wake up to a sunny morning for the rearranged Virgin Atlantic Gold Members golf day at The Grove on 31 August.

Not only were we blessed with fine weather, we were also treated to a course in absolute peak condition as the venue counts down the days and weeks to the British Masters this October. Despite tricky greens and waist length rough, the course is a fair test of golf and those on their game were able to score well.

After breakfast and the option of a massage from our therapists, our Gold members and sponsors headed out on the course. Srixon's Tom Brown cleaned up on the Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive winning a £100 worth of vouchers from Trendy Golf and prizes from Level Four Golf.

In the Team Stableford competition, Virgin Atlantic's Hamish Rickman led his team of Swingers Morag Hutcheon, James Hewson and Garett Endenburg to victory with 89 points winning prizes from Srixon and Trendy Golf.

In the Individual Stableford, we split the group into two handicap divisions. Third place in each went to Scott McMunn (37pts) and Mete Akkemik (34pts) whilst runners up were Graeme Kemp-Jones (39pts) and another Swinger Andrew Meredith with 37pts all winning prizes from Dirty Dog, Skechers, Stewart Golf, Cleveland Golf and Trendy Golf.

The winner of our 18+ handicap range was Jason Martin who has just joined as a Swinger and will be competing in our final society day in Cheshire in a few days. Jason shot 38pts to win a Cleveland Golf bag, Trendy Golf jumper, shirt and cap.

The winner of our 0-17 handicap range and overall winner however was Atul Bajpal. Atul not only won some Trendy Golf gear and a fabulous Stewart Golf trolley, he also won a two night stay with golf at Gleneagles hotel, a prize presented to him by Dan Clark of Gleneagles.
