Savills retain IAS tennis trophy

The Annual Office and Industrial Agents tennis tournament took place at Virgin Active Riverside in Northwood, Middlesex this week, and incredibly the standard of tennis just gets better year on year. With the weather on our side, we raced through some very competitive round robin group matches which saw the top four seeds all proceed to the semi finals but not without some drama in Group B, where the Dalton Warner Davis/LXA team just edged out Madlins after they both finished with 12 games - Dalton Warner Davis /LXA progressing to the main draw semi-finals having beaten Madlins 4-2 in their rubber.
In the plate semi-finals Tim Clark and Alex Gauntlett of Hughes Ellard/Vail Williams defeated Andrew Rogers and Matthew Chater of Madlins 6-1, whilst Daniel Warwick and Ed Wright of The Warwick Group beat Jim London and Malcolm McPhail, two of our longest-serving competitors, 6-3. The final however proved a one-sided affair with Tim and Alex winning the Plate for Hughes Ellard/Vail Williams with a 6-0 victory. In the main draw, 2015 champions Ed Gee and Duncan Knight of Savills dispatched Ged Denning and Richard Parton 6-2, whilst the second semi-final produced a classic. Nick Aylett and Myles Wilcox-Smith of Gerald Eve/Jaguar Land Rover took on multi-winners Tim Edwards and Alex Stevens of Bilfinger GVA/Bloomberg. Nick and Myles were 5-2 up wtih 2 match points, only to see Tim and Alex pull back to 5-5 eventually going into a championship tie break. However it was the Gerald Eve/Jaguar Land Rover pair who edged out Bilfinger GVA/Bloomberg 10-8 in that tiebreak to set up a final against Savills.
With all the attendees gathered on the terrace to watch the final, Ed Gee and Duncan Knight proved just a little too strong on the day retaining the trophy for Savills, in a 6-3 win against Nick and Myles from Gerald Eve/Jaguar Land Rover.
Thank you to everyone who attended. As always it was a fun day filled with a very high quality of tennis. See you next year!
