Virgin Atlantic Gold Members enjoy the wonders of Woburn
Our run of luck with the weather this season continued at the beautiful Woburn Golf Club, always one of our favourite stops. Last year, our guests were wrapped up against the elements and experienced a very wet Woburn underfoot. This year however, sun cream and plenty of fluids were the order of the day!
It was great to have so many of our partners represented on this day, including Explanar who exhibited on the driving range, Trendy Golf who sponsored our Nearest the Pin and Hertz who provided the Volvo car for the hole in one prize. Another new element was the Stewart Golf chipping competition on the 10th tee, as guests attempted to chip the ball into the back of a moving trolley. Well done to Matthew Hicks who scored 6pts to win a Stewart Golf R1 Push trolley for himself. Click here to view a short video clip of this fun competition. This day was our best ever turn out on a Gold member day, with 90 Gold members and sponsors, together with 16 beginners all giving up their Friday to spend the day with us at Woburn. There is no better place to have a tuition clinic than Woburn with it's incredible short game area, and two beginners who benefited particularly were Ali Prescod and Mark Cripps who took home the best Beginners' prizes.
Out on the Marquess' Course, there was some fantastic golf being played with SkyCaddie guest Josh Budz winning Nearest the Pin and some sunglasses from Dirty Dog, as well as a voucher from Trendy Golf. Longest drive for ladies went to Morag Hutcheon whilst the men's prize went to Jamie Stone, a guest of Stewart Golf, with both of them winning travel covers from Level Four golf.
The Team Stableford competition was hotly contested, with the runners up prize going to the Level Four team of Dave Gray, Ian Rooston and Dave Ellis, accompanied by Gold member Dennis Sleath, who all picked up shirts from Trendy Golf. The winning team prize went to the CEO's team. Craig Kreeger, always the perfect host, presented the Cleveland hybrids to his team mates - Morag Hutcheon, Sam Loxton and Andrew Gray. In the Individual Stableford competition we split the field into two handicap divisions - 0-17 and 18+. It was refreshing to see that no high handicappers came in with huge scores (!), and that proves what a tough course the Marquess' was, set up for Open qualifying in a couple weeks time. In fourth place in the 18+ was Flying Club Swinger Rebecca Gray with 27pts, followed in third place by fellow Swinger Jason Martin with 27pts on a countback. The runners up spot went to Stephen Caplen on 28pts with 29pts winning it for Stephen Robinson. All winners received a selection of fabulous Cleveland Golf, Trendy Golf, Dirty Dog and Stewart Golf prizes. In the 0-17 division, Patrick Myles finished fourth with 33pts, whilst third place went to Mark Steffens with 34pts. The Runner up was Swinger member Eddie Gilbert with a fantastic 37pts but it was the star of the day, two time Swingers finalist, Morag Hutcheon, coming in with 41pts who took first place. All winners won a selection of Cleveland Golf, SkyCaddie, Stewart Golf, Trendy Golf and Dirty Dog products. In addition as Morag was also the overall winner, she wins a two night stay with golf for two at Gleneagles. Well done Morag! A very popular winner to round off a great day at a truly special venue. We hope to see all of you back again next year. Thank you to all our partners who took part in the day.
