Record temperatures prove a hit for the ladies of the Manor
On the hottest day of the year, our loyal band of Virgin Atlantic Swingers converged on the picturesque Manor House Golf Club in Wiltshire for what proved to be a memorable day of golf played in stunning conditions. Thank goodness we had buggies to help everyone cope with the heat! We also took time out to celebrate the life of our great friend and loyal Swinger Mr Keith Eustace-Pedlar who sadly passed away last year, and it was an honour to welcome his daughter Katrina and her husband to host the day and present the prizes. In our nearest the pin competition, it was a former finalist from way back in S5 who took home the prize, Nick Jameson. It was lovely to see Nick back again, and we hope he plays many more days in the future. The nearest the pin in two competition on the drivable Par 4 8th proved very intriguing with both James Hewson and Roger Harpum driving the green and holing their putts! Well done to them both. The individual stableford was a hotly contested affair with Mark Attwell finishing sixth with 35pts closely followed by Andrew Gray in fifth also on 35pts and Mahesh Mani in fourth on 35pts. Third place went to Graham Smith with 36pts, but it was the ladies who came out on top on this day! Runner up was Morag Hutcheon who played a stunning round to record a fantastic 38pts, however it was Rebecca Gray who was our winner with a fantastic 41pts. Well done Rebecca, who now looks after the very special Keith Pedlar Friendship Trophy for the next 12 months. In honour of Keith, who always loved to wear pink, we encouraged all our guests to also wear pink! And for Keith's preferred charity of SeaFarers UK and Virgin Atlantic's WE we also held two fun charity competitions along the way. First up was a two's competition won by Roger Harpum (two 2s) Rebecca Gray (1), Mahesh Mani (1), Matt Carrett (1), Paul Rayner (1) James Hewson (1) and Graham Pielow (1). Finally we held our best dressed competition, the winner being Rebecca's brother, James Gear, for his full on matching pink outfit! Well done James! Through donations on the day and in bookings received, we have raised a total £780 for SeaFarers UK and WE. Thank you for your incredible generosity. And thank you to all our sponsors and everyone who attended the day. We look forward to seeing you in South Africa and at Enville in September!
