'Chairman's Chaps' claim victory at Provide charity golf day
The 5th annual Provide Charity Golf Day took place at Benton Hall Golf Club in Essex on Friday 21st September. With overnight storms causing some disruption to the course set-up in the morning, a record turnout of 75 golfers battled it out for some great prizes in extremely windy and challenging conditions. Despite some very good efforts on the tough par 3 13th hole, sadly nobody scooped the amazing hole in one prize of a £20,000 Mini Cooper convertible! Paul Coverdale won Nearest the Pin with a great shot on the short 6th and the prize for the Nearest the Pin in 2 shots on the 12th went to Craig Rowland. The Longest Drive competition on the 18th hole was won by Paul Kersey, with Paula Teckkman claiming the Best Lady prize with an excellent score of 36 points, after there was some confusion over whether men could take part in the ladies only longest drive! In the Individual Stableford event scoring was always going to be tough in the windy conditions but we saw some very good scores. Mike Fair claimed third prize with 37 points whilst Don Strong scored 38 points to take runners-up spot. However, the stand out winner was John Dezzani with a superb score of 40 points. Our 'most golf' winner on the day was Susan Bunn - thanks for being such a good sport Susan! In the team event again the scoring as very good in the conditions, with six teams scoring over 80 points. Third place went to the last year's winners, IQ Medical (Howard Smith, Paula Teckkman, Steve Leah and Ann Goodman) with a score of 86 points. Runners-up were Mike Fair, Don Strong, Tony Emms and Louis Philips of 3 1/2 Men with 88 points, but the overall winners on the day were the Chairman's Chaps team of Derrick Louis, Paul Brinkman. Treve Warren and Craig Rowland who finished on a great score of 89 points. Thanks to all the generous sponsors and for all your support in digging deep and raising over £6,000 for the Huntington's Disease Association. Congratulations once again to all the prize winners and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
