Little Aston lit up by Gray

We were blessed with beautiful blue skies and warm sunshine on our second Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Golf Society Day at one of the most picturesque venues in the country, Little Aston Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield. The club is a real hidden gem with it's stunning views, immaculate greens and fairways and the friendliest welcome you could ask for. It really was a fitting venue to host our special day. We also shared the day with the club's 111th birthday and they kindly gave us some prizes to help celebrate. We held a twitter photo competition won by Andy Grant for his picture of him posing in one of the courses many bunkers! There was also a longest drive won by, you guessed it, Roger Harpum, reminding us why we now do Nearest the Pin in Two! There was also a putting competition around the incredible putting green at Little Aston which Alan Todd won with a round of 20 - incredbible! In the main event, Nearest the Pin went to a Swingers newcomer Carl Greenwood, enjoying his first day with us, whilst Nearest the Pin in two went to Simon Sandham. In the Individual Stableford, Morag Hutcheon who definitely had the worse journey of the day (along with Steve Clinton and Brett Gilbert) caught up the holes she had missed earlier to finish in sixth place with 33pts on a countback - a fantastic effort! In fifth place was Walton Heath winner Robert Dunn with 34pts putting him in contention for the aggregate score prize at the end of the season. In fourth place was another returning Swinger Andrew Meredith with 36pts and it was great to see him back. The top 3 saw Martin Derrick in third place with 38pts and Martin now leads the race for a place in our Liverpool final. In second place was Luke Eustace with 38pts on a countback but the real star of the day was Rebecca Gray who had a fantastic round shooting 40pts to win first prize and a whole host of goodies from our sponsors. Well done Rebecca! Thank you to everyone who made the effort to spend the day with us, and of course all our sponsors for their fabulous support. We now move on to Knole Park in June where the race for Liverpool will continue!
