Gray takes the spoils at Knole Park with stunning round

We rode our luck with the weather last week at our penultimate UK society day of S16, as the promised rains stayed away and we were treated to one of the finest rounds we've witnessed at one of the most beautiful courses we have visited. Knole Park is a hidden gem near Sevenoaks in Kent and our Virgin Atlantic Swingers were greeted by rolling green fairways and roaming deer in a unique setting. In the Nearest the Pin competition, Tim Knaust took the honours, whilst Nearest the Pin in Two went to Alan Todd. To mark his 50th birthday, regular Swinger Roger Harpum sponsored a team competition which was won by the fourball of Steve Cooke, Andrew Gray, James Hewson and Leon Loberman with a massive total of 119pts (best 3 from 4 counted). In the Individual competition, fifth place went to Tim Knaust with 35pts, Robin Fuller finished fourth on a countback with 35pts, and he himself was also pipped on a countback into third place by Ian Maybrey with 35pts. The runner up was Martin Derrick with an excellent 40pts, which on many a day would have been enough for him to win his very first society day. However no one could do anything about a player who literally had the round of his life shooting 47pts and a gross 72 to not only win the day but also put himself in an incredibly strong position to take the society day spot in Team Europe at the S16 Final in Liverpool. Well done Andrew Gray it truly was a fantastic round. Thank you to all our sponsors again for providing some fantastic gifts and prizes, and of course to all our Virgin Atlantic Swingers who made the journey in such a wet and cold week! Our next event is out in the sunshine this August in New Jersey, US. Check out how you can join us here
