Carden Park Resort hosts invitation day for Virgin Atlantic Gold members
Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club Gold members converged on Cheshire's Carden Park Resort yesterday as we took over the prestigious Nicklaus Course. Conditions were good as 70 Gold members and invited Flying Club Swingers and sponsors, as well as 20 beginners joined us for this special occasion. The tuition clinic is always a relaxed and fun day, and we were delighted to welcome some new faces. Congratulations to Joanna Lee, Peter McDougall and Timothy Oladipo who were chosen by the three pros as the three most improved players of the day. Out on the course, there were a couple great efforts in our Hertz hole in one competition to win a fabulous Mercedes, whilst SkyCaddie's James Holmes won the Nearest the Pin in two competition. Nearest the Pin went to Scott Murray. In the Team Stableford competition the runner up prize went to William Foord, Alex Petrelis, David Thirwell and Colin Rose with a fantastic 90pts, but a superb score of 93pts from James Flude. Craig Dick, Katie Jordan and Richard Jones gave them first place. In the Individual Stableford competition we split the competition into two handicap divisions 0-17 and 18 plus. In the low handicap division third place went to Steve Glennon with 36pts on a countback, whilst the runner-up spot went to William Foord with 36pts, also on a countback. The low handicap winner was Simon Barber with 37pts. In the high handicap division, third place went to Alan Sparkes with 36pts on a countback, whilst the runner up spot went to Peter Parker with 37pts. Our winner as well as overall day winner was Richard Jones with a fabulous 42pts. Richard wins a two day break at Gleneagles for two with golf. Thank you to everyone who came along on the day and of course to all our amazing sponsors for supporting the day - Titleist, Stewart Golf, Gleneagles, SkyCadde, Hertz, Glenmuir, Dirty Dog, BLUNT and Level 4.
