North Hants kicks off Linksbook Network Days

After a challenging 2020 for everyone, it was fantastic to finally kick start our Linksbook Network Days with a sold-out event at the fabulous North Hants Golf Club, one of our favourite venues in the South. It was a great mix of old friends from our Virgin Atlantic days as well many new members who we were delighted to finally get to meet, and there was a lovely sense of camaraderie in the air as we all appreciated spending some time together, all be it socially distanced. After collecting their special goody bag and a breakfast roll and coffee, our members set about to the challenge of this beautiful course, the home of Justin Rose, which has also just hosted a leg of the Rose Ladies Pro Series, so as you would expect, the course was in excellent condition. Scoring on the day was good, and the competition was very close. Nearest the Pin on the 8th hole went to Hazlemere’s Trevor Hails whilst the Longest Drive on the 18th went to Mike Higgins. Both won a pair of superb Skechers Golf shoes for their efforts. In the Team Stableford competition, there was only one point in it as the family team of Glyn Andrews, Karen Andrews, Neil McRae and Anthony Gavin scored 90pts to win a dozen Titleist Pro V1s each. We had a good contingent of ladies playing which was great to see, and the winner could only be decided on countback! Scoring 32pts and winning a pair of Dirty Dogs Sunglasses was Karen Andrews but it was Morag Hutcheon, looking in fine form, who pipped Karen on a countback to win Dirty Dogs and a Stewart Golf towel. In the overall Individual Stableford competition, only 3 players scored over 36pts. Third place went to Glyn Andrews from Waterton Park who won a Bushnell GPS watch, whilst the runner up, Martin Derrick from The Dyke Golf Club had 38pts winning a Bushnell laser rangefinder. Again, it was incredibly tight as Neil McRae beat Martin on a countback having also scored 38pts. Neil from Lambourne Golf Club won a Stewart Golf R1-S push trolley and a Your Golf Travel overnight stay and golf for two at East Sussex National. Golf was followed by a delicious lunch and a socially distanced prize giving. It was a fantastic day all round and it felt very special to be back out there running events and meeting our members. We very much hope everyone enjoyed the day and thank you all for making the effort to spend the day with us.
