A day to remember at Moor Park
After the bitter disappointment of our washed out day at Hazlemere, it was a huge relief to arrive at Moor Park with bright skies and not a raindrop in sight. Moor Park is a special venue with perhaps the most spectacular clubhouse in golf and yesterday proved another memorable visit. With the stunning Mansion House as a back drop, former World Trick Shot Champion Geoff Swain entertained our guests with a couple of shows where he shared some useful tips and showed off his repertoire of incredible shots and mind blowing hand eye co-ordination. We are not sure whether there were any trick shots from our members out on the course (not deliberate anyway!) but Geoff seemed to inspire some excellent golf from a few of our members! Nearest the Pin on hole 3 went to Mike Higgins whilst in the battle of the big hitters Roger Harpum outdrove the rest of the field to claim the Longest Drive prize on hole 16. Both our Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive winners took home a pair of Dirty Dog sunglasses and an exclusive Linksnet Titleist cap. In the Team Stableford competition, the three ball of Robin Fuller, Simon Stern and Dan Stern proved victorious with 88pts. They each won a dozen Titleist Tour Soft balls. In the Individual Stableford competition, fourth place went to Porters Park Captain George Copley with 35 points on a countback, winning him a pair of Dirty Dog sunglasses. In third place was Martin Moss who shot an excellent 36 points to win a pair of Skechers shoes. The runner up spot went to Brin Cox with a fabulous 37 points winning him a Bushnell Phantom GPS device. However, it was our overall winner Peter Carter-Brown who had the biggest smile after his fantastic round of 38 points won him a Stewart Golf R1-S Push Trolley and a pair of Dirty Dog sunglasses - congratulations Peter. In our aggregate competition which awards one lucky Network Day attendee a direct place in our Final at Prince's in November, Terry Woods now leads the way after two events with a combined 68pts. There’s a long way still to go with 8 qualifying events remaining but it's a very good start! Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday and shared in the fun and laughter, it was fantastic to see you all. Thanks also to the team at Moor Park for their superb hospitality and to Stewart Golf who came down to see us on the day, as well as to all our other partners who provided gifts and prizes. Of course a special mention must go to Geoff Swain for thrilling our guests with two great shows and spending time with the members out on the course. If you would like to join us at any of our remaining 8 days, please check the Network Days page here
