Camberley Heath provides fitting climax

Undoubtedly one of the best, if not best, venues we have visited this season hosted our final Linksnet Network Day of the season this week. Camberley Heath is a stunning heathland course in an area of Surrey spoilt with fantastic heathland courses.

A talented field assembled on a foggy morning to not only compete for some fantastic prizes on the day but to also try and improve their overall season positions with just hours to go on the online leaderboards!

There was also the SIK Golf Birdie Leaderboard to be decided so there was even more to play for than usual.

In the Nearest the Pin competition, Kevin Rose in the last group took the spoils to win a bottle of Merser Rum, whilst the Nearest the Pin in Two competition was won by Linksnet Ambassador Peter Carter-Brown who took home a bottle of Hayman's Gin.

In the Team Competition there were a number of threeballs in play so the ghost player drawn was Kerry Evans who with Forbes Cutler, John Whiskin and Terry Woods took the spoils with a fantastic 94pts to win a Titleist cap and Skechers towel each.

The Individual Competition proved especially competitive with four players tied on 37pts. But it was Terry Woods with a better back 6 on countback who took third place from Mark Attwell. Terry won a Stewart Golf rain cover. Our runner up also with 37pts but a better back 9 on countback was John Whiskin. John won a pair of Skechers shoes.

However the big winner on the day was Sean Dolan. Sean’s been away for a while with a young family but he came back with a bang to shoot 40pts to win a Stewart Golf £250 voucher.

As well as the individual leaderboard, there was a lot of focus on the SIK Golf Birdie Leaderboard with Leon Loberman and Mark Attwell fighting it out for the last custom fit SIK Golf putter to be awarded. Dave Woods, Carl Greenwood and Dave Cooksley were already assured of theirs! Leon’s current putting form put him as a hot favourite and so it proved on the day as he claimed the last putter. Congratulations Leon!

An even bigger prize up for grabs was the last Order of Merit spot in our end of season final at Prince's. Carl Greenwood and Glyn Andrews were already guaranteed their spots as they joined Bushnell matchplay winners Dave Woods, Leon Loberman and Derek Bird in the final. However the final Order of Merit spot was a straight fight between Dave Cooksley and Mark Attwell with Dave starting the day just 4 points ahead! Mark put in a consistent round playing superbly under pressure to take our final Order of Merit spot on a day when it just wasn’t meant to be for Dave Cooksley. Dave has been an incredible supporter this year and has had a great season and we are sure he will be back in the final next year! Congratulations Mark, we look forward to spending a couple of days at Prince's with you and Jan and the rest of our finalists. Thanks again to everyone who took part yesterday and throughout the season. A big thank you also to all our sponsors especially Simon Hudson of provulo who has been at many of the days this year supporting us. Look out for our build up to the Season 3 Final over the coming weeks and all the news on what happens next!
