Fun in the sun at the stunning Isle of Purbeck

Amazing views, a stunning course and perfect weather made for an incredible day at the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club. The Purbeck course is one of the most spectacular in the south and is steeped in history, as it was the course that Enid Blyton used to play whilst writing her Famous Five children’s stories. There were some superb shots into the tricky 9th green where we had a Nearest the Pin competition. It looked like George Copley might have won it with a fine effort in the first group out, before Dave Woods almost took the honours using every conceivable contour of the hole and path, but his ball fell just short of the green! It was left to Forbes Cutler to hit a beauty and take home the bottle of Hayman's Gin. The Nearest the Pin in Two on the 18th saw a superbly controlled approach from Mark Williams to within a few feet of the pin to win the bottle of Merser Rum. In the Team Competition, our 'ghost' or 'blind' player was drawn as Carol Brown who helped the three ball of George Copley, Danny Kendall and Dave Cooksley win a Titleist cap, sleeve of Pro V1s and Skechers golf towel each. Their total of 86 points pipped Carol’s own team by just 1 point! In the Individual Stableford competition we had an additional main prize courtesy of Stewart Golf. So, in fourth place was George Copley with 35 points winning a Skechers shoe voucher. In third place also with 35 points but beating George on a countback was Dave Cooksley, who won a fourball voucher to return to the Isle of Purbeck. The runner-up spot went to Leon Loberman with 36 points, for which Leon was rewarded with a £250 Stewart Golf voucher. However in first place, and continuing his incredible form of late, was Dave Woods with an excellent 39 points winning himself a Stewart Golf R1-S Push trolley, a StaffPro cart bag and some Stewart Golf accessories. A big thank you again to all our sponsors once more for providing the amazing prizes. We hope to see you and your friends at more Network Days this season. Next up is Sand Moor Golf Club on 8 July as we head back north to Yorkshire. In the meantime keep entering your scores on the Linksnet platform and keep networking – you never know where you might get invited to play golf next!
