It's a very Murray Christmas!

As 2021 comes to a close we thought it would be fun to host our first ever Christmas Network Day for our Linksnet members, and what a festive feast of fun it turned out to be! We visited Dunstable Downs Golf Club in Bedfordshire for the first time and it proved to be a gem of a course that made all our members feel very welcome. In the 'Best Christmas Outfit' competition we were spoilt for choice with many members pulling out all the stops with their fancy festive jumpers. In the end we decided to split the prize four ways and even then we had some great efforts that sadly just missed out. There was Scott Murray, who loves dressing up, who wore a very smart Christmas cardigan and accessorised his Stewart Golf Q Follow with fairy lights. There was Bob Scott dressed as Santa who then wore his Christmas kipper tie to lunch although it did need an iron! And there was Linksnet Final Captain David Ryley who wore his festive pyjama bottoms and even came with his own naughty elf!

In the end though the Titleist ProV1 balls were shared by:

  • Karen Scott - sporting a great jumper and santa hat with some fabulous bauble earrings

  • John Whiskin - wearing a fetching Minions Christmas jumper complete with Santa hat and pigtails

  • Terry Woods - full of the joys of Christmas with his Santa hat and beard combo together with an Only Fools and Horses themed jumper

  • Mick Baker - who looked more like the Joker out of Batman with his ‘Driving home for Christmas’ green sweater, green trousers, green shirt and green shades!

Thank you to everyone who joined in the festive spirit. It was brilliant to see and makes us determined to make the Christmas Network Day a regular fixture!

Now onto the golf. In our Nearest the Pin competition Scott Murray took home the Island Green cap and Linksnet towel after pinching the prize from his playing partner and debutant Dean Tebbutt with the very next shot to 18!

In our Longest Drive competition, the wind made it really tough. Lord Nice (Stuart), as he likes to be referred to these days, pulled one out of the bag to win his Titleist Cap and a Linksnet towel.

In the Team Stableford competition, the three ball of Stuart Nice, Rob Cooper and Roger Harpum gelled well to come in with 79 points to each win a pair of Dirty Dogs, Island Green sock pack and some Hayman’s Sloe Gin minis.

The Individual Stableford was a hotly contested affair. Fourth spot went to debutant Jim Tatum with 35 points on a countback from Dave Woods. Jim won a pair of Skechers shoes.

Third place also with 35 points was another debutant, Dean Tebbutt, who took home a Stewart Golf R1-S Push Trolley.

The runner up spot went to Forbes Cutler with a superb 36 points winning a Bushnell Edge watch.

But our winner making it a very 'Murray' Christmas was Scott Murray with a fantastic 39 points. Scott wins a place for him and a friend at one of our Network Days in 2022!

Thank you to everyone who took part yesterday and a special thanks to Geoff Swain who joined us for the day. Thanks also to all of our sponsors once more for providing the prizes.

We hope to see you and your friends at our Network Days in 2022. Look out for the 'on sale' date in early January. In the meantime, thank you once again for supporting us in 2021 and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
