Nice day for it on Welsh links

Clear blue skies and warm sunshine greeted our players for the first Network Day of 2022. After a few weeks of very wet weather in South Wales, we welcomed the fine weather as we headed to the superb Pyle and Kenfig Golf Club for our first Network Day of the season. Despite the chilly start the golf soon warmed up and things were very close on the front nine with some excellent golf being played on the challenging links.

Offering breathtaking views of the Welsh mountains, Bristol Channel and Rest Bay, the back nine (designed by Mackenzie Ross) proved to be a stern test but the quality of golf continued to a high level.

Nearest the Pin was won on the tough par 3 12th hole by new member Steve Shaw, who took home the prize of a bottle of Hayman's Gin and a Titleist cap. Nearest the Pin in 2 shots went to Tour member, Robert Cooper, who won a bottle of Merser Rum and a Titleist cap

In the team event, scoring was close amongst all groups but the winners, who finished with an excellent score of 86 points and won a dozen Titleist ProV1 balls each, were David Elliott, Gavin Offord, Luke Howell and Nathan Lanston.

In the Individual Stableford competition, third place and a pair of Skechers shoes went to Glyn Andrews with 37 points just pipping new member Gavin Offord on a back nine countback. Runners-up spot went to David Cooksley on 38 points. David won a £250 Stewart Golf voucher and was also drawn out of the hat from all attendees on the day to win our fantastic Stewart Golf prize bundle of a R1-S Push trolley, StaffPro cart bag and Stewart Golf accessories. A good day all round for David!

Holding his nerve over the challenging final few holes and closing out the victory with an excellent 39 points was Tour Plus member Stuart Nice. Stuart won a round of golf for 4 people at Pyle and Kenfig plus a beautiful print of the the club's iconic 14th hole, commissioned in celebration of the club's centenary this year.
