Ontex win 7th annual Provide charity golf day
The 7th annual Provide Charity Golf Day took place on Thursday 7 October at Forrester Park Golf Club after two postponements due to Covid. 19 teams and over 70 golfers enjoyed the favourable scoring conditions and good weather at the Essex venue. Sadly nobody scooped the amazing hole in one prize of a £20,000 Mini Cooper convertible, despite some very good efforts on the tough par 3 2nd hole! Dave Camm of E&J Fire won both the Nearest the Pin and Nearest the Pin in 2 shots competitions with some precision iron play on the 8th and 13th holes. The Longest Drive competition on the 16th hole for men was won by Jack Kirby of The Flying Leprechauns, with Sharon Warrington of the Q T Pies claiming the longest drive for the ladies. Richard Bridger of team Ayton won the straightest drive on the 4th hole In the Individual Stableford scoring was excellent with more than half of the field scoring in excess of 30 points. Adam Tinkham of Electric Blue claimed third prize with 42 points on countback whilst Stuart Dennis of Scrutton Bland also scored 42 points to take runners-up spot. Our ladies winner was Joanne Stentiford of the Q T Pies who finished with a great score of 39 points. However, our clear overall winner was David Long of Ontex who scored an amazing 46 points. In the team event, again the scoring as very impressive. Third place went to the team Ayton team of Wayne Ayton, Paul Ayton, Sunny Bhurji and Richard Bridger on 93 points. Runners-up were Andy Burton, Chris Kellet, Malcolm Simmonds and Robert Hicks of Prevent X and Friends who finished on 95 points. But our overall winners on the day was the Ontex team of Andy Stringfellow, Richard Clarke, David Long and John Bryan who scored a superb total of 96 points to claim the trophy. A big thank you to all the players and the generous sponsors for all your support in digging deep and raising over £13,000 for CALM. Congratulations once again to all the prize winners and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
