Robin reigns supreme at Royal Ashdown
After experiencing some very unseasonal weather so far this summer, we definitely struck lucky at our Royal Ashdown Network Day as the rain clouds somehow avoided us whilst other areas in the South East suffered heavy thunderstorms and torrential rain.
Despite the favourable weather the Old Course at Ashdown provided a very tough test for our members with its lush heather and punishing rough. It was a tough day to score well and anything close to par was going to be in contention.
Nearest the Pin in two on hole 3 went to Matt Carrett, whilst Nearest the Pin on hole 9 went to Gary Chequer. Danny Kendall took the honours in the Longest Drive competition on hole 12. Danny is one of our newest members and was attending his first Linksnet Network Day. All three winners took home a Stewart Golf rain cover. In the Team Stableford competition, the threeball of Martin Moss, Gary Chequer and Matt Carrett took the team honours with 82 points and they each won a dozen Titleist Tour Soft balls.
In the Individual Stableford competition, Gary Chequer posted the early clubhouse lead but had to settle for third place with 35 points winning him a pair of Skechers shoes. The runner up spot went to Linksnet sponsor Simon Hudson also with 35 points beating Gary on a countback. Simon won a Bushnell Phantom GPS device. Our overall winner was Robin Fuller, who produced a very solid finish over the tough closing stretch to post a great round of 36 points to win him a Stewart Golf R1-S Push Trolley and a pair of Dirty Dogs.
In our aggregate competition, which awards one lucky Network day attendee a place in our Prince's final in November, Terry Woods still leads the way after three events with an aggregate score of 100 points. Terry is the only Linksnet member to play all 3 days so far! Thank you to everyone played in the day and took up the challenge with great enthusiasm.
