Whitehead storms to victory denying Woods a double

Ranked as one of Yorkshire’s finest, the course at Sand Moor offered up some great golf as the battle for spaces in our end of season Final continued.

Nearest the Pin on the 10th hole went to newcomer Mike Pickering, who’s superb effort on the tricky Par 3 nestled only a couple of feet from the pin. For the Nearest the Pin in Two competition on the 2nd hole the prize went to another new member Barry Stead. Both players won bottles of Hayman’s Gin for their efforts.

In the Team Competition, an outstanding score of 93 points for Duncan Whitehead, Leon Loberman, Brian Ford and Simon Ford proved just too good for everyone else. Each player won a Titleist cap and Skechers golf towel.

In the Individual Stableford competition Barry Stead just missed out on the prizes as he was beaten to third place by Paul Woods on a countback – both players shooting 38 points. Paul won a pair of Skechers golf shoes.

In second place, Dave Woods continued his unbelievable run of form to win another fourball voucher! This time he’s heading back to Sand Moor Golf Club. Dave shot 40 points.

But scooping the first prize of a £250 Stewart Golf voucher was Duncan Whitehead with a superb 44 points - an incredible effort which at one stage late in the back nine looked even better. Duncan has played on many of our days but we believe this is his first win and his best ever points tally. Well done Duncan!
